Mission Statement

We are committed to the advancement and nurturing of our schools through our quest for knowledge, excellence, learning in the classroom and beyond and preparing our students with real-world skills to compete in today’s Professional Beauty Industry. It is our aim to deliver these skills in order for our students to be resourceful and thrive in this ever-changing and creative world so that they are able to improve their own lives and the lives of their family and community. Our function is committed to support the processes necessary to achieve this success with integrity, connection, and transparency in our own association with State regulators and other industry professionals.

What We Offer

The Association of Cosmetology and Hairstyling of NJ (“ACHNJ”) is a non-profit organization informing and supporting New Jersey Licensed Cosmetology Schools. Our members range in size from single locations with as few as [50] students to multi-location campuses as large as five NJ campuses. Our goal is to keep our membership informed about State and federal rules and regulations that may impact the future success of their schools and students. To the extent necessary, we will hire lobbyists and attorneys to assist us in influencing regulatory change at State and accreditor levels. Most recently during the COVID pandemic, we convinced the NJ State Board of Cosmetology & Hairstyling to temporarily approve distance and hybrid learning to best facilitate social distancing. In further response to COVID, we compelled the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences to provide NJ schools administrative relief on certain outcome measurements required for annual reporting. Finally, ACHNJ organizes special educational programs for our schools, most notably Teaching Methods classes for teacher trainers. ACHNJ can accomplish far more as a partnership of multiple schools than any one school can accomplish by itself. We strongly encourage all NJ Cosmetology Schools to join our ranks.
